DEISCHER FUNERAL HELD LAST MONDAY Newton Charles Deischer, 78, respected resident of Monticello, was buried at the Prairie Hill cemetery, Castle Grove township, last Monday afternoon. Funeral services were held for him at the First Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock with Dr. William J. Grossheim officiating. Death occurred at the John McDonald hospital Friday morning, April 7, following a stroke sustained a few days previously. He was born Oct. 30, 1865, in Castle Grove Township, a son of Daniel and Sara (Auman) Deischer. His parents had settled in Castle Grove Township in Civil War days, having come to that place in a covered wagon from the state of Pennsylvania. Deischer was the last of a family of eight children and had been a lifelong resident of Jones County. As a boy, he attended the rural schools near his home and later completed a business course at Naperville College, Naperville, Ill., in 1886. He was united in marriage March 21, 1894, to Susan Jane Danks. For some years they resided on the farm where Deischer was born. They moved to Monticello in January, 1921, and have lived on West First Street since that time. Mrs. Deischer died November 30, 1943. Deischer united with the Presbyterian Church in Monticello January 8, 1922, and was a loyal member, taking great interest in the activities of the church. He is survived by a daughter, Miss Mildred Deischer, of Monticello. Those from out of town who attended the funeral of N.C. Deischer funeral Monday were Mrs. Bertha Tangeman, Miss Alma Tangeman, Miss Margaret Tangeman. Mr. & Mrs. Fred Kuehl, of Elkader, IL., P. Kline, of Marion; Miss Minna Wikoff, Miss Betty Pritchett and Miss Elizabeth Windsor of Coe College, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Black, Des Moines; Mrs. Howard Deischer and Mrs. Henry Uffelman of Platteville, Wis.
