Description	:	Noma Kathleen Eisler, 90, Topeka, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at a local hospital. She had resided at Homestead of Topeka for the past 2 years. Noma was born April 26, 1924 southeast of Effingham to John Clarence and Noma Merle (Lewis) Matthews. She attended schools in Valley Falls and Effingham. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she enjoyed quilting with members and singing in the choir. She... Read More	Noma Kathleen Eisler, 90, Topeka, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at a local hospital. She had resided at Homestead of Topeka for the past 2 years. Noma was born April 26, 1924 southeast of Effingham to John Clarence and Noma Merle (Lewis) Matthews. She attended schools in Valley Falls and Effingham. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she enjoyed quilting with members and singing in the choir. She sewed all her life, enjoyed embroidering, quilting, gardening, cooking and loved reunions. She taught school in a one-room school house in Prairie Hall, a country school north of Valley Falls. She made draperies, and was a Dental Assistant for Dr. Lonnie Bevins for over 28 years. Noma married Herbert William Eisler on December 25, 1943 in Nortonville. He died July 28, 2011. Survivors include daughters, Judith Elaine (Ron) Moss, Marie Kathleen (Dave) Pinick, all of Topeka; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mary Louise Irwin, Topeka, June Clarine Coleman, Valley Falls, and Viola Caroline Kern, Dennison. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Dudley Matthews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Valley Falls Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015.
