Description	:	Service of Remembrance for Nora Helen Heupel, 92, of Bison, SD will be Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Baptist Church in Bison. Rev. Phil Hahn will officiate and burial will follow at the Bison Cemetery. Special music will be provided by Rev. Phil Hahn, Vicki and Peggy Hahn, Conway and Judy Heupel. Serving as casketbearers will be Casey, Chad, Roger, Russell, Justin and Tyler Heupel. NORA HELEN RATTEI was born on November 17, 1915 at Forbes, ND to Jacob and Mathilda (Dobler) Rattei. She attended schools in the Forbes area and later married Alfred Heupel on October 24, 1935 in Ventura, ND. After their marriage they farmed in the Bison, SD area until the early 1940's when they operated the Homme farm at Prairie City, SD. In 1945 they purchased a farm 4 miles southwest of Bison, SD where they continued to farm and raise their family. In 1978 they moved into Bison. Alfred passed away on December 11, 1985 and Nora continued to live in Bison until 2001 when she moved into the Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger, ND. Nora enjoyed growing a garden, was an excellent German cook and baker and she enjoyed delivering eggs and cream to her customers in the Bison area. She also enjoyed playing dominoes and visiting with her roommate of seven years, Elizabeth Brown. She also sold greeting cards and gift items to supply her income. Nora Heupel passed from this life on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger, ND. Grateful for having shared in her life are her seven sons, Alvin (Arlys) of Haynes, ND, Ray (Cordavee) of Sturgis, SD, Alfred (Judy), of Culbertson, MT, Norman (Dora), of Goodland, KS, Leonard (Janice) of Hettinger, ND, Lester(Cleita), of Wichita Falls, TX and Ronnie, of Sioux Falls, SD; five daughters, Alyce (Delbert) Hurst, of Minneola, KS, Linda Besler, of Lander, WY, Diane (Terry) Brown, of San Rafael, NM, Margie Kvanvig, of Rapid City, SD and Debbie Heupel, of San Diego, CA; 33 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, an infant son, one daughter, Lorraine Pace, her parents, her brother, Jacob Rattei and two sisters, Esther Nitschke and Ella Teske Gall. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Grace Baptist Church in Bison or the Western Horizon Care Center in Hettinger, ND.
