Description	:	Norma Jean Merrigan, 80 of Omaha NE, passed away on August 29th, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Norma was born on January 2, 1934 in Yankton, SD and graduated from the Wakonda High School. She married to Darell Merrigan on August 2nd 1954; they were married 14 years before Darell’s death in 1968. Norma and Darell owned and operated Ideal Billards in downtown Vermillion, SD before converting the business into the Charcoal Lounge in 1965. Norma is survived by sisters; Ruth Nedved, Geneva Mueller, daughters; Colleen (Tom) Alspaugh, Cheryl Ahlgrim, Carolyn Merrigan, Kellie Merrigan. Sons: Mark (Denise) Merrigan, Morris (Jeannie) Merrigan, Kevin Merrigan, John (Ali) Jelke, 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and other family and friends. Norma was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Darell Merrigan. Norma will be remembered by her children and grandchildren as a Loving Mother and Grandmother. She was a devoted Catholic who throughout her life carried out many selfless acts. A wake will be held on Monday September 1st at 7 P.M. at the Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion, SD with a rosary followed by photos and music. The funeral service will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church at 11 A.M on Tuesday September 2nd. hansenfuneralhome.com
