Clark was born September 11, 1864 in Galia, Illinois and died November 28, 1921 at the M.E. hospital in Des Moines, after a brief illness of thirty hours aged 57 years, 2 months and 17 days. He moved with his parents to Jasper county, Iowa at the age of five years locating on a farm two miles south of Colfax where he resided until March 1903 when he moved to his parents farm near Altoona where he has since lived with the exception of a few years. He was married to Lucy L. Dunaway of Monroe, Iowa, May 20, 1903, to this union was born four children Enna, Marjorie and Ralph who with his wife survive him, one son Maurice having preceeded him to that better land. He also leaves five sisters and two brothers. He united with the M.E. church at Altoona in the fall of 1909 where he remained a faithful member until his death. He was always a kind and loving husband and father and because of his loving and happy disposition he will be greatly missed by a host of relatives and friends. The funeral was held at the home east of Altoona on Wednesday afternoon, November 30, 1921 at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev Stevenson of the Methodist church, after which the body was laid to rest in the Altoona cemetery. The funeral was attended by a large number of friends and relatives and many beautiful floral offerings were sent by sympathizing friends. Among the floral pieces was one from the Peacock Threshing Co. also from the Senior and Sophomore classes and teachers of the Mitchellville High School where Enna and Marjorie attend school. The "We Workers" class of the Methodist church also sent a floral offering. The music for the funeral was furnished by Miss Flossie Hecker pianist and a quartet composed of Frank Sherman, Miss Edith Stevenson, Mrs. Bailie and John Kurtzweil. The pallbearers were: Ross Strain, Andy Albers and Roy Devotie of Mitchellville, and Paul Renaud, Ezra Champion and Hunter Avise, of Altoona.
