Lewis, died Monday night at her home on Taylor Street from double pneumonia after a week's illness. She was critically ill for several days. Mrs. Lewis was born July 13, 1884, in Augusta county, the daughter of Mr.and Mrs. James A. Barkley, now residents of Timber Ridge. She is survived by her parents, her husband, and three young sons: Emory Alexander, a cadet at the U.S. Military Academy at West Piont; and Fred Willis and Walter Davidson, at home; three brothers, Walter C. Barkley, Malta, Ill; Harry T. Barkley, Roanoke; O. H. Barkley, of Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. A. A. Harris and Mrs. W.C. McCoy, Lexington, and Mrs. R.W. Moran, of Timber Ridge. Funeral services were held yesterday morning at 11 o'clock at the Lexington Presbyterian church, of which she was an active member, by her pastor, Dr. James J. Murray, assisted by Rev. S. W. Haddon, of Lexington. A large congregation of relatives and friends was present. She was buried in the Lexington cemetery. Among those here for the fuenral were her brothers: Walter C. Barkley, and Harry T. Barkley and his wife; Junius Plapp, Malta, Ill; Rev. Mr. Whitely, Mrs. William Nace, Mr and Mrs. William Barber,Roanoke; Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Rosen, George Rosen, Miss Mattie Brown, Spottswood; Mrs. George Hileman and Mrs. Marguerite McGuffin, East Falls Church, Va.
