Description	:	Okke Iken, longtime resident of Lennox, died suddenly at his home in Lennox on Sunday, Apr. 28, 1991, as the result of an apparent heart attack. He attained the age of 79 years, seven months and 18 days. Okke Iken was born in Emden, Ostfriesland, Germany on Sep. 10, 1911, the son of Eibe and Johanna (Lucht) Iken. He attained the age of 79 years, seven months and 18 days. Okke Iken was born in Emden, Ostfriesland, Germany on Sep. 10, 1911, the son of Eibe and Johanna (Lucht) Iken. In 1922 he came to the United States with his family, settling near Akron, IA. In Feb. of 1932 they moved to South Dakota to their farm northeast of Lennox. On May 10, 1942 he was united in marriage to Johanna Marie Schmidt at the Ebenezer parsonage in Lennox. Following their marriage they farmed northeast of Lennox. In 1970 they retired and continued to live on the farm until 1982 when they moved into Lennox. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one infant sister in 1910 and one brother, Eberhard Iken , on Mar. 30, 1989. Survivors include his widow, Johanna; his son and daughter-in-law, Albert and Lorna Iken, of Lennox; three grandchildren, Jane Iken, Jason Iken and Jess Iken; one brother Neal Iken of Lennox; three sisters: Mareke Iken of Lennox, Rika Wiegand of Cranford, NJ., and Martha Hagel of Fairlawn, NJ.; plus several nieces and nephews.
