Description	:	Ole Andreason was born September 18, 1855 in Ulve, Norway. On Dec. 29, 1872, he was united in marriage to Karn Evensdatter. Karn was born Sept. 14, 1859 at Ringsaker, Norway. Ole and Karn made their home in Norway for five years and in 1881 the sailed for the United States. They brought with them two daughters; Martha (Mrs. John Nelsen) and Anna (Mrs. Juel Disrude) and Karn's mother Mary Christensen. Mary's husband Even had died in Norway. On Dec. 29, 1872, he was united in marriage to Karn Evensdatter. Karn was born Sept. 14, 1859 at Ringsaker, Norway. Ole and Karn made their home in Norway for five years and in 1881 the sailed for the United States. They brought with them two daughters; Martha (Mrs. John Nelsen) and Anna (Mrs. Juel Disrude) and Karn's mother Mary Christensen. Mary's husband Even had died in Norway. They arrived June 3, 1881 in Dunlap, Iowa. Their first son Even, was born shortly after their arrival. This was the only time Karn had a Dr. for childbirth and it cost $6.00. They then settled in Willow Township, Monona County, Iowa. They lived in a sod house and then a corncrib made into living quarters. After arriving in the United States Ole changed his last name to Ulven. He used the A. for Andreason for his middle initial. He chose the name from his home in Norway, Ulve. The spelling of Karn's name was changed to Karen, also. They had ten more children; Gunda (Mrs. Richard Knutson), Martin, Alfred Edwin (died at one month), Edwin (killed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii at the close of WWI), Olaf, Bennett (killed at Aragon Forest in WWI), Alfred, Olga (Mrs. Ray Braden), Harold, and Ella (Mrs. Leonard Wood). Ole purchased the "Crum Ranch" and they moved there in 1904. There was 58 acres and Ole divided it into three farms, the Home Place, The North Hill Place and The South Hill Place. Ole and Karen, Ella, Harold, and Edwin move to town in 1913. On Mar. 9, 1914 they moved into the new house Ole had built for Karen. It was a showplace at that time. It had red mahogany woodwork, Glass doorknobs, and the top half of the house was stucco on the outside. The house was later sold to the church for the parsonage in 1929. Ole was in charge of the building of the country church outside of Soldier. Not only was Ole a carpenter and a farmer but he was also a car dealer and loved to fish. Ole took sick in 1925 and was in ill health until his death Aug. 8, 1927. The house was too large for Karen after Ole died so Even built a two bedroom home for her. Karen lived here until Nov. 19, 1933 when she died of heart failure. Ole and Karen are buried in the County Church Cemetery with Karen's mother, Mary.
