Description	:	Ole Pederson Haugen was the second child of Peder and Marthe (Olsdatter) Arnesen Haugen. He was born on November 22, 1846, at Gruemoen near Grue Norway. On June 29, 1868, he and his brother Arne left Norway on a journey to America. They settled in St. Ansgar, Mitchell County, Iowa, and engaged in farming there. Read More	Ole Pederson Haugen was the second child of Peder and Marthe (Olsdatter) Arnesen Haugen. He was born on November 22, 1846, at Gruemoen near Grue Norway. On June 29, 1868, he and his brother Arne left Norway on a journey to America. They settled in St. Ansgar, Mitchell County, Iowa, and engaged in farming there. In that same year (1868) Ole was married to Bertea (Holmen) Christianson in Worth County, Iowa. She had been previously married to Gunnerius Knudson Hundeby, who died shortly after the Civil War, and brought with her their daughter Anne Christine. Ole and Bertha had 10 children: Peter (1870), Peter J. (1872), Minda (1874), Minda (1875), Gilbert O. ( 1877), Othelia P. (1880), Clara (1881), Alfred O. (1885), Clarence Hilmer (1888), and Theophilus Benjamin (1890). Ole's parents, a sister and three younger brothers came to the United States in 1870. Ole continued to farm in Iowa until his death May 21, 1926 in St. Ansgar, IA. He is buried at the Silver Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery, in Worth Co., IA next to Bertha, who died in 1902.
