Description	:	The deceased, Mrs. Ole Bentley, was born January 13th, 1855 in Vik, Sogn, Norway. In Holy Baptism she received the name Olena Brekke Fjerstad. In the year 1876, at the age of 21, she came to this country with her mother, two brothers and two sisters. They arrived at Northwood, Iowa, where they remained four years and where the deceased was united in holy wedlock with Mr. Ole Bentley. Read More	The deceased, Mrs. Ole Bentley, was born January 13th, 1855 in Vik, Sogn, Norway. In Holy Baptism she received the name Olena Brekke Fjerstad. In the year 1876, at the age of 21, she came to this country with her mother, two brothers and two sisters. They arrived at Northwood, Iowa, where they remained four years and where the deceased was united in holy wedlock with Mr. Ole Bentley. In 1880 Mr. and Mrs. Bentley came to SD to make their home on a homestead seven miles east of Bryant, where they endured all the hardships of the early pioneers of this district. Of this home founded on the lonely prairies of SD, it can truly said, "They lived by the side of the road and were a friend of man." This humble little home on the wayside was known throughout the country as a welcome abode for the stranger where he could share the friendly hospitality of a friendly family. Active as Mrs. Bentley was in the fulfillment of her duty as a Christian mother of a large family, she did not neglect her duties in congregational matters. She was a charter member of the Garfield Lutheran Congregation of the vicinity and was instrumental in its up building until recent years. The Bentley family was blessed with eleven children, five of whom together with the father, who passed away 25 years ago, have preceded the mother in the life beyond. Four children died in infancy and one son Guttorm died November 7th , 1918 at the age of 38 years. Six children remain to mourn the departure of a dear mother. They are: Mrs. Anna Rovig of Minot, ND; Thomas Bentley of Midland, SD; Mrs. Bertha Anderson of Lake Preston, SD; Mrs. Johanna Stime of La Jolla, CA; Mrs. Clara Teter of Albert Lea, MN; and Mrs. Gurina Marquardt of Badger, SD; with whom the deceased made her home the greater part of the later years and where her passing will be doubly felt. Others mourning her departure are one sister and 28 grand children. Her age at the time of her death, January 11, 1927, which was caused by complications of heart trouble, was 71 years, 11 months, and 28 days.
