She attended the Webb Public school and the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls from which she received the normal teachers certificate. She taught in the Scott Center Country school near Rembrandt in 1915 and 1916. In 1916 she was united in marriage with Lester G. Theiss. Throughout all her married life she worked as a nurse and a housewife In the years of her practical nursing, she worked for Dr. Rust and Dr. Campbell in Sioux Rapids. She was also the senior night nurse at the former Swallum's Hospital at Storm Lake. In 1938 her husband Lester Theiss passed away. On Dec 31, 1941 Olga was united in marriage with Alva Dubois at Marcus. They lived on the family farm near Sioux Rapids until about 1958 when they retired and moved to Sioux Rapids where they have made their home to the present time. Lifelong Methodist Olga was a lifelong Methodist, having been a member at the Webb Methodist church, then the Ruthven Methodist church, and the United Methodist church of Sioux Rapids for the past years. She had been a longtime member of the Womens Society of Christian Service. In her younger years she had been a member of the church choir and dearly loved to sing the beautiful hymns. She was one who practiced her Christianity throughout her life and dearly loved the things of the outdoors, her gardens and animals. She saw beauty and happiness in all of the things of nature which she shared with her family and many friends. She was a member of the Storm Lake Chapter No. 209 Order of the Eastern Star. Olga had been a patient in the Spencer hospital since Nov. 10 after suffering a heart attack at her home. She had been in the Intensive Care Unit for several days and then on Nov. 18, 1972, about 6:05 p.m. she passed away at the age of 75 years, 10 months and seven days. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lester Theiss in 1938. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Alva; seven children, Sylvester Theiss of Waterloo, Norman Theiss of Clear Lake, Mrs. Warren (Dorothy) Johnson of Arlington Heights, Ill., Sherwin Dubois of Sioux Rapids, Mrs. Glen (Mary) Graeber of Rembrandt, Mrs. Hal (Arlene) Hood of Beverly Hills, Calif, and Mrs. Kenneth (Phyllis) Ingram of Cherokee, 13 grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends. Her family and many friends will sorely miss the presence of this strong christian wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend.
