Description	:	Mrs. Theo. Blume passed away early Easter morning of a heart attack. Her illness was of several years standing and she had suffered two strokes the past year. Blume passed away early Easter morning of a heart attack. Her illness was of several years standing and she had suffered two strokes the past year. Of late however, she had been feeling very well for her and only a few minutes before her death had talked of the family dinner which was to be given by her sister, Dorothea Girard, in Dunlap that day. She had fallen and shaken herself up badly and given up her plans to attend the dinner. She felt so well in the morning that she intended to go. While her daughter was preparing breakfast she heard a groan and upon going to the bedroom found Mrs. Blume very ill. The other children and the doctor were called, but before the doctor could reach the house she had breathed her last. Olive Amelia Girard was born on December 6, 1868, the oldest daughter of Herman and Mary Zeilman Girard. She grew to young womanhood in Livingston County, Illinois, graduated for Greer College, Hoopston, Illinois and taught for a while in the rural schools of her home county. On August 1, 1894 she was united in marriage to Theo. C. Blume. For some months they made their home in Dyersville, Iowa, where Mr. Blume was an instructor in the public schools. In the spring of 1895 they moved to the Blume homestead where both spent the remainder of their lives. Six children were born to this union, Clara, Rachel, Mary, Herman, Fritz, and Hertha, all of whom survive and live on the home farm. Mr. Blume preceded her in death on October 18, 1925. Besides her children Mrs. Blume is survived by four sisters, two brothers and many other relatives and hosts of friends. Her passing leaves a vacant chair in many households. Funeral services were held from the home at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. Wallace M. Short of Sioux City, a friend of many years standing conducted the services. Mrs. Orion Stock played Mrs. Blume's favorite musical composition and the funeral march during the services and the singing was in charge of Mrs. C. K. Myers of Denison, president of John A. Logan chapter of Woman's Relief Corps of which Mrs. Blume was a member. Interment was in Morgan township cemetery. Pallbearers were Herman F. Schultz, Albert Huebner, John Meggers, Bernard Zage, Carl Johannsen, and Henry Ullrich all of them long time neighbors of the Blume family. Mrs. Blume was an active member of the Crawford County Farmers Union and even since her illness she had engaged in active work for that organization. Here again her passing will be felt by many.
