Description	:	Olive Dorothy Austin, age 90, of Waverly, died March 11, 2008, at the Shell Rock Care Center in Shell Rock, Iowa. Olive was born on October 28, 1917 in Nerstrand, Minnesota, the daughter of Harry and Mary Jane (Gayther) Beine. Olive graduated from the Charles City High School in 1936. She then helped her grandmother at the Plainfield Grocery Store until 1938. On October 26, 1938 Olive was united in marriage to M.C. "Mez" Austin at the United Methodist Church in Charles City. Read More	Olive Dorothy Austin, age 90, of Waverly, died March 11, 2008, at the Shell Rock Care Center in Shell Rock, Iowa. Olive was born on October 28, 1917 in Nerstrand, Minnesota, the daughter of Harry and Mary Jane (Gayther) Beine. Olive graduated from the Charles City High School in 1936. She then helped her grandmother at the Plainfield Grocery Store until 1938. On October 26, 1938 Olive was united in marriage to M.C. "Mez" Austin at the United Methodist Church in Charles City. Olive spent the next several years raising her family. In 1957 she went to work at Harrison's Variety Store where she managed the Toy Department for the next 20 years. Olive retired in 1979. Olive's enjoyments included horses, trail rides, where she was a member of the Dairy Spot Trail Riders, painting, flowers, taking care of her pets, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Olive's memory is honored by her husband, M. C. "Mez" Austin, of Waverly, two sons, Charles (Linda) Austin of Waverly and Richard (Patricia) Austin of Traverse City, MI, a daughter, Mary Jane Austin of Waverly, three grandchildren, Jennifer (Aaron) Kjar, Steve (Marla) Austin, and Shannon (Rick) Payne, five great grandchildren, Cole, Ethan, and Megan Kjar, and Clare and Ellen Austin, a nephew, Lee Beine, and a niece, Barbara Miller. Olive was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Walt Beine, and a sister, Elsie Witt. Olive has been cremated and memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Nate Frazee officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home in Waverly. Memorials can be made to either the Cedar Valley Hospice or the Waverly Pet Rescue.
