Description	:	Per her death certificate, Olive Lavina Needham died on 6 Jul 1916 at her residence, located three miles west of Farmington in San Joaquin County, CA. She had been under the care of Dr. J. D. Dameron of Stockton from 1 Mar 1915 until her death. He determined that she died of "Mitral Insufficiency," with "Chronic Interstitial nephritis" as a contributing cause. She was buried on 8 Jul 1916 in the Farmington Cemetery, with B. C. Her occupation was listed as "nominal," which means a person too young or too old to have a trade. Her father was David Drake and her mother was the former Sallie Bigelow. It was not known where the father was born, but the mother was born in New York. She was a sister of the late Mrs. Mary Drake Squire, who passed away last January and was the last of a family of nine children. She was born in New York September 1828 and was married to Charles E. Needham, Sept. 1852. They moved to California in 1864. Mr. Needham died June 1907. There survive her, six children, H.B., Hal and Congressman J.C. Needham, Mrs. Myrta McKean, Mrs. Lillian Holman, all of California. [The six children were Harry Burr Needham, Hal Cyrus Needham, James Carson Needham, Myrta Louisa Needham McKean, Lillian Vail Needham Holman, and Luella Gertrude Needham Holman.] H.B. and Congressman Needham and families have visited here and will be kindly remembered by friends who will sympathize with them in their loss. Misses Hattie and Emma Drake, E.R. Drake, Mrs. W.J. Rhykerd and M.O. Squire are nieces and nephews of the deceased. She and Charles Elisha Needham married in New York on 8 Sep 1852 on her 24th birthday. Olive L. Needham is in the 1860 federal census. She, her husband Charles Needham, and her two children were living in the incorporated town of DeKalb in DeKalb County, IL. She was listed as being 31 years old, a housekeeper, and a native of Vermont (which is not correct). Her husband Charles was listed as being 30 years old, a farmer, and a native of Illinois (which is not correct). He owned real estate valued at $4,000 and personal property valued at $1,000. The two children were Harry B. Needham and Cyrus H. Needham. Harry was 5 years old and a native of New York. Cyrus was one year old and a native of Illinois. Olive Needham is in the 1870 federal census. She was then living with her family in the Tulare Township in San Joaquin County, CA. She was then living with her family on St. John Street in San Jose, Santa Clara County, CA. She was 51 years old, keeping house, and a native of New York. Her father was born in Massachusetts and her mother in New Hampshire. Her husband was listed as Charles E. Needham. He was 50 years old and a native of Vermont. He was working as a "U. S. Gauger." There were six children in the home. They were Burr H., 24, teacher, born IL; Hall C., 20, student, born IL; Myrta L., 18, student, born IL; Carson J., 15, student, born NV; Lilian V., 13, student, born CA; and, Gertrude L., 11, student, born CA.
