Mrs. Wilson was born November 25, 1931, in Surry County to the late C. E. "Charlie" and Stella Simmons. She was a lifelong member of Simmons Grove Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Bible School. Read More	MOUNT AIRY, NC ~ Opal Arlene Simmons Wilson, age 82, of Mount Airy, NC, widow of Mr. James Monroe Wilson passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Twelve Oaks in Mount Airy. Mrs. Wilson was born November 25, 1931, in Surry County to the late C. E. "Charlie" and Stella Simmons. She was a lifelong member of Simmons Grove Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Bible School. She was a farm girl first, textile worker and then a Tupperware Dealer/Manager for fifty years. Throughout the years she earned several trips through Tupperware which she and her husband enjoyed together. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for five years and supported her husband in Boy Scouts for over fifty years. Most of all she was a loving wife and devoted mother. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, James Ricky and Barbara Wilson and Timothy Dale Wilson; three grandchildren, Amy Wilson McBride and husband, Charles, Laura Wilson Leftwich and husband, Josh, Adam Eugene Wilson and wife, Jennifer; three great-grandchildren, Skylar Leigh Hamm, Hannah Grace Leftwich and Emily Grace McBride; two brothers, Toby Simmons and wife. Kaye and Jerry Simmons and wife, Barbie; one sister, Dianne Simmons Cooke and husband, Tim; a sister-in-law Thelma Willard; a brother-in-law, Bobby Wilson and preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Joyce Redman Simmons and a brother-in-law, Roger Willard. The family would like to thank Twelve Oaks staff and Mountain Valley Hospice staff for all the tender loving care they gave Mrs. Wilson. Funeral services will be on Friday, August 8, 2014, at 4:00 P.M. at Simmons Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Cain and Rev. Johnson Gupton officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Ricky and Barbara Wilson, 135 Woodcreed Drive, Mount Airy and on Friday, August 8 at 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family will remain at the church after the committal service to fellowship with their friends. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
