Description	:	Opal M Johnson Service June 28 The funeral mass for Opal M Johnson was Saturday, June 28 at St Joan of Arc Church at Ekalaka with Rev. Henry Higgins officiating. Rosary was recited Friday evening at Putnam Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Joe Till, Pat Byrne, Ivan Jardee, Kenneth Wiman, Alden Turbiville and Emil Lovec. Mrs. Johnson was born Oct 1, 1930, a daughter of Mr & Mrs Leander Crawford in Nebraska. She came to Alzada with her parents in 1910 where she grew up and received her education. Mrs. Johnson was born Oct 1, 1930, a daughter of Mr & Mrs Leander Crawford in Nebraska. She came to Alzada with her parents in 1910 where she grew up and received her education. She married George B Thompson July 17, 1922 at Belle Fourche, SD. He preceded her in death. She then moved to Ekalaka. April 5, 1953 she and Willis Johnson were married in Miles City. She moved to Mill Iron after her marriage where she lived until her death June 26th. She was the postmaster at Mill Iron from 1953 until her most recent illness and death. Survivors include her husband, a son, Richard B Thompson of Mentor, Minn; two daughters, Mrs Betty Schoenbeck, Colony, Wyo. and Mrs Fern Siders of Belle Fontain, Ohio; a step-son Willis J Johnson, Seattle, Wash; two step-daughters, Mrs Fern Lovec and Mrs Mary Williams both of Ekalaka; a sister, Mrs Al Olsen, Winnemucca, Nev; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery with Putnam Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
