Orie Gene Campbell, the son of Orie J. and Mirtie Marie (Tracy) Campbell was born December 11, 1939 at Larned, Kansas. He was the eldest of seven children born to this union, five sons and two daughters, Gene, Alvin, Tom, Victor "Butch", Charles, Carolyn, and Louise. Read More	Gene Campbell, 73, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 4:10 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 while in the company of family members, at Pine Village, Moundridge. Orie Gene Campbell, the son of Orie J. and Mirtie Marie (Tracy) Campbell was born December 11, 1939 at Larned, Kansas. He was the eldest of seven children born to this union, five sons and two daughters, Gene, Alvin, Tom, Victor "Butch", Charles, Carolyn, and Louise. They also have two half sisters and a half brother, Ollie May, Donald, and Pearl. Gene attended the Larned and Iola schools. Gene was united in marriage to Mary Spearman on July 5, 1960 at Wichita, Kansas were they established their first home together. Gene was blessed with the birth of five daughters, Jo, Jan, Rose, Mary, and Crystal. Through the years Gene worked at the Coleman Company, and retired as a building maintenance engineer for U.S.D. 259. He also worked other various jobs and was a jack-of-all-trades. Gene Campbell was united in marriage to Fayneta J. "Fay" Beattie on May 13, 1995 at McPherson, Kansas where they made their home together. Gene was a member of the Kansas Honey Producers Association. Gene was a Christian, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend. His wise counsel, guidance, and gracious smile will be missed by those who knew and loved him. He loved his daughters very much and always wanted the best for them. He enjoyed taking part in their activities while they were growing up. Gene was especially fond of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always looked forward to their visits and times they shared together. He enjoyed the out-of-doors, hunting, fishing, bird watching, beekeeping, and nature in general. He loved ice cream. Gene and Fay enjoyed all the trips they took with Village Tours and always was looking forward to their next. Orie Gene Campbell, 73, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 4:10 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 while in the company of family members, at Pine Village, Moundridge. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Orie and Mirtie Campbell; a daughter, Mary Louise Campbell; 2 half-sisters, Ollie May Kresge and Pearl Branstetter; and a half brother, Donald Speer and a baby brother, Charles Campbell. Surviving family members include his loving and devoted wife of over 18 years, Fayneta "Fay" Campbell, of McPherson, Kansas; his daughters, Jo Goff and husband Jim, of Jetmore, Kansas, Jan E. Carter, and husband Eddie Farris, of Valley Center, Kansas, Rose A. Payne and husband Allen, of Valley Center, Kansas, and Crystal N. Fortner and husband Donnie, of Wichita, Kansas; his siblings, Alvin Campbell and Sue, of Lowell, Arkansas, Thomas "Tom" Campbell and wife Loretta, of Moran, Kansas, Victor "Butch" Campbell and wife Marilyn, of Rogers, Arkansas, Carolyn Swift, of Wichita, Kansas, and Louise McGarrah and husband Larry, of Rogers, Arkansas; 7 grandchildren - Tony, Sabrina, Steven, Emily, Laura, Sarah, and Hannah; 3 great-grandchildren - Ashton, Gabriel, and Kaitlin; many nieces and nephews, and other relatives. Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. with family present at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas. Graveside service will be held at Larned Cemetery, Larned, Kansas, at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 with Chaplain Bill Eichelberger with Good Shepherd Hospice, Newton, Kansas officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Gene may be made to Pine Village Retirement Comm. or Alzheimer's Association and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
