For the first 25 years of his life, Orin was known as Harry Whitson. On the 1910 federal census he appears as Harry Dillehay in the household of his step-father, Miles Dillehay. For the first 25 years of his life, Orin was known as Harry Whitson. On the 1910 federal census he appears as Harry Dillehay in the household of his step-father, Miles Dillehay. On the 1920 federal census he appears as Harry Whiteson in the household of his twice-widowed mother, Mary Olive Dillehay. On the 1930 federal census he appears as Harry Spunaugle, living with his new wife and her son, next door to his thrice-widowed mother Mary Olive Spunaugle. On the 1940 federal census he appears as Orin B. Whitson in a household with his wife, Myrtle, his step-son and his two sons. When Harry married Myrtle May (Kraus) Sterling on Mar. 21, 1930, his name was recorded on the marriage document as Orrin B. Whitson. Orin was working as a supervisor in a metal can manufacturing plant in Vincennes, IN when he died. His name was recorded on the Indiana death certificate as Orin B. Whitson. The informant for the death certificate was shown as Lora May Whitson of Cherryvale, KS. The informant's correct name was probably Myrtle May Whitson. Myrtle was living in Cherryvale, KS at the time of Orin's death and when she died. She was buried in Cherryvale, KS. Orin had been buried beside his mother in Labette, KS 30 years earlier.
