Description	:	Orlin D. Musil, age 84, of rural Waterville passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Midland Hospice in Topeka, KS. He was born October 31, 1932 east of Cottage Hill to Richard A. and Virginia C. (Isaacson) Musil. Richard passed away in October 1933. Virginia married Reuben C. Roepke in March 1936 and together they raised Orlin at Cottage Hill corner, six miles south of Waterville. Orlin graduated from Waterville High School in 1950. Musil, age 84, of rural Waterville passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Midland Hospice in Topeka, KS. He was born October 31, 1932 east of Cottage Hill to Richard A. and Virginia C. (Isaacson) Musil. Richard passed away in October 1933. Virginia married Reuben C. Roepke in March 1936 and together they raised Orlin at Cottage Hill corner, six miles south of Waterville. Orlin graduated from Waterville High School in 1950. He enlisted in the Army and served from 1953 to 1956 where he specialized in heavy equipment repair until he was honorably discharged. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Returning to Waterville, he continued working on the farm with his step-dad. He married Carolyn A. (Solt) on June 8, 1957 and they began their life together in Topeka. While Carol taught school, Orlin worked for Martin Tractor Company as a mechanic. After many years of waiting and hoping, daughter Brenda was born in March 1971. Three years later, Orlin fulfilled his dream of moving back to Cottage Hill and taking over the family farm with Carol and Brenda by his side. Orlin farmed and ran a machine repair shop, fixing tractors, implements and vehicles for folks from miles around. He still found plenty of time to enjoy collecting classic cars, riding motorcycles, fishing, going to car shows, gardening, spending quality time with family, and being an amazing son, husband, dad, brother, uncle, friend and neighbor. Orlin and Carol celebrated 59 years of marriage before Carol passed away in February of this year. Orlin is survived by his daughter, Brenda L. Unruh and her husband Conrad of Topeka, as well as his beloved sister and brother-in-law Vicky R. (Roepke) and John Nightingale of Topeka, as well as his cherished nephew Brent J. Nightingale of Lecompton. Other treasured family members include brother-in-law Bill Solt, nephew Mark Solt, niece Debra (Solt) Mullin and her husband BJ, all of Wichita, along with two great nieces and two great nephews, their spouses, and six great-great nieces and nephews. Orlin was preceded in death by his father Richard, step-father Reuben, mother Virginia, and wife Carolyn. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to either the Cottage Hill Cemetery (for the care and upkeep of the grounds) or to the Valley Heights Foundation (for scholarships) and may be sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home PO Box 61 Waterville, KS 66548. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 14, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville, KS. There will be a memorial service at 11:00 am on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville with Mr. Rod Christie officiating. Honorary bearers are Brent Nightingale, Mark Solt, Debra Mullin, John Schuchart, Gail Roepke, Melvin Roepke, Lee Wohler, Randy Jacobson, and Darrin Jacobson. Inurnment will be at the Cottage Hill Cemetery south of Waterville. If it is a nice evening on the 14th and or a nice day on the 15th and you have a classic vehicle that you take to car shows, please consider driving it to the visitation or the funeral, because Orlin loved a good car show.
