She was born on Oct. 2, 1909, in North Manchester, to I. Bruce and Etta Mae (Stine) Book. She taught English and Latin at Chester High School from 1931 to 1941, was the librarian at Elkhart High School from 1941 to 1964, and was the reference librarian at Manchester College from 1964 to 1975, when she retired. Bruce and Etta Mae (Stine) Book. She taught English and Latin at Chester High School from 1931 to 1941, was the librarian at Elkhart High School from 1941 to 1964, and was the reference librarian at Manchester College from 1964 to 1975, when she retired. She graduated from Chester High School in 1927. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Manchester College in 1931, and a Bachelor of Librarian Science degree from the University of Illinois in 1940. She was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren, the North Manchester Historical Society, Wabash County Retired Teachers Association and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association. Surviving are a sister, Beulah Book, North Manchester; and a nephew, Douglas (Jo Anne) Dickey, Knoxville, Tenn. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester. Chaplains Joan Deeter and David Doudt will officiate. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. Friends may call 30 minutes prior to services at the chapel. Preferred memorials are to Manchester College or the American Heart Association.
