Description	:	Orville James (Andy) Anderson passed from this earthly realm in the early hours of July 27, 2012 at St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, Montana. Surrounded by family and friends during the final days, Andy remained lucid and courageous while his body succumbed to natural infirmities. Born on March 26, 1922 to Bert and Minnie (Paulson), Andy lived and worked through his childhood on the family farm outside Greenbush, Minnesota. Surrounded by family and friends during the final days, Andy remained lucid and courageous while his body succumbed to natural infirmities. Born on March 26, 1922 to Bert and Minnie (Paulson), Andy lived and worked through his childhood on the family farm outside Greenbush, Minnesota. Andy spent much time with his relatives, the Paulsons, who lived nearby. Andy's stoicism, courage, authenticity, and dignity from this arduous upbringing were admired by many through his life. During the depression, Andy worked with the Rural Electric Administration when he was not working at the farm. Andy left the farm in 1946 and journeyed to Sausalito, California, where he signed on with Morrison-Knutson Construction and sailed for Guam. On Guam, he discovered his passion for heavy equipment which he pursued as a livelihood for the next 35 years. He proudly wore his "Heavy Equipment Operators Local 400" hat until his final days. On his way to Alaska in 1949, he stopped to see a friend and met his lifetime partner, Pearl Marie LaTray. Andy and Pearl were married on June 6, 1949. For the next fifteen years, Andy and Pearl lived throughout the Northwest while he worked construction and in Alaska while he worked for the Alaska Railroad. Andy and Pearl finally settled in their current home on Lescantz Lane, west of Anaconda, in 1965. Andy worked at the Berkley Pit for eighteen years and often recounted how he was one of the last equipment operators to leave the Pit after "they shut off the pumps." Andy loved to travel and for him a "short trip" was often to Canada, Minnesota, or the West Coast. Sausage, crackers, and milk were the food for the trip and a blanket on the car seat was the bed. Andy and Pearl enjoyed their grandchildren for a few years after his retirement, often camping, and then began their annual snowbird pilgrimages to Laughlin, Quartzite, Yuma, and other retiree haunts. Over the years, Andy and Pearl graduated from a canvas tent, to a camper trailer, to a camper pickup, to a small RV, and finally to a large RV. They accumulated numerous treasured friends and memories during their annual jaunts. "Retiring" from snow birding in 2007, Andy and Pearl enjoyed their home, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends together. Andy and Pearl loved to visit over a cup of coffee or a meal and visitors to their home were frequent and numerous. Andy was predeceased by his sisters, Carol and Florence, and brothers Vernon Ray and Arlo, and grandson, Trevor. Andy is survived by his wife, Pearl; sons, Bill (Patty) of East Helena and Orville Robert (Ceil) of Anaconda; grandchildren Kathryn (Matt) of Warren, Michigan; Nicholas, Karla, and Dana of Anaconda; and Jacklyn (Will) of Conowingo, Maryland; great-grandsons Eathen and Blake; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. In accordance with his requests, Orville's remains have been cremated at Butte Crematories. Celebration of Life services will be conducted on Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock in Hope Lutheran Church, 1506 W. Pennsylvania in Anaconda, with Pastor Melanie Martin-Dent officiating.
