Arnett, the son of Charles and Lela (Dixon) Arnett, was born in Phillips, Nebraska on January 2, 1913 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 17, 2000, at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 15 days. Arnett, the son of Charles and Lela (Dixon) Arnett, was born in Phillips, Nebraska on January 2, 1913 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 17, 2000, at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 15 days. He grew up in Hamilton County where he attended school in Giltner and Phillips. Orville began working for various Hamilton County farmers at the age of 12. One his most memorable families that he worked for were The Ernstmeier Brothers, north of Phillips. Orville was united in marriage to Katherine "Irene" Rediger on October 14, 1932 in Belleville, Kansas. They made their home in Phillips. Orville began working for the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings and the Grand Island Ordinance Plant in the 1940's. He also farmed during this time period. The family moved to Henthorne Farms in October of 1945, northwest of Hampton. In 1958, the family moved to Hampton where Orville began working for the Hampton Public Schools. Orville drove the school bus and was custodian in Hampton for 13 years. During his years in Hampton, Orville received several community service awards including; The Dr. Otto M. Troester Award. In 1971, Orville and his wife moved to Aurora where he worked for the Aurora Schools as Building and Grounds Superintendent. Orville also drove the school bus and was custodian. He was proud to work for the Aurora Schools for 17 years. Orville spent 30 happy years working for Aurora and Hampton Public Schools. He was an active member of First Christian Church of Aurora. Orville was past member of Lions Club of Hampton and Aurora. He was also a past 4-H Leader. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irene, one son Gale, one sister Ila Arnett and three brothers, Leland, Charles and George. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his three children, Joan Kissel and her husband Earl of Aurora, Emmett Arnett and his wife Delores of Grand Island, Roger Arnett and his wife Ione of Hampton; 7 grandchildren, Deb Willis and her husband Jim of Aurora, Pat Anderson and her husband Doug of Aurora, Carrie Arnett of Grand Island, Todd Arnett and his wife Denise of Grand Island, Matthew Arnett and his wife of Pam of Hampton, Brad Arnett of Grand Island and Rick Arnett and his wife Marla of Hampton; 10 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eunice Debban of Kennewick, Washington, Wilma Debban of Hastings, Opal Ackerman of Jordan Valley, Oregon and Dorothy Purdy of Phillips.
