Description	:	NELSON, OSCAR E.—Oscar E. Nelson was born March 10, 1902, on the family farm in Chelsea township. He was the only son of Telka and J. A. E. (Ed) Nelson, both of whom predeceased him. He passed away Monday, December 25, 1972, at his farm home at the age of 70 years, 9 months, and 15 days. Nelson was born March 10, 1902, on the family farm in Chelsea township. He was the only son of Telka and J. A. E. (Ed) Nelson, both of whom predeceased him. He passed away Monday, December 25, 1972, at his farm home at the age of 70 years, 9 months, and 15 days. He attended grade school in district 65, Chelsea township, and graduated from Geneva high school in 1919, at the age of 16. He began farming with his father and continued to reside at home until his marriage to Wilma D. Flory of Shickley, Neb., in 1929. After farming in the Shickley area and near Geneva until 1936, he returned permanently to the home place on Highway 41 five miles east of Geneva. Three children were the issue of this marriage: Beverly Sue, born in 1931, who died in infancy; John Edward, born in 1935, and Christie Lou, born in 1938. In addition to his wife and children, Oscar is survived by his two sisters, Sylvia (Mrs. Bert Beams of Red Cloud, Neb.) and Verna (Mrs. James T. Edington of Lincoln, Neb.), his son-in-law, Dean Andersen of Seattle, Wash., a brother-in-law, James T. Edington, and a nephew, James R. Edington, both of Lincoln. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a. m. Thursday, December 28, at the United Methodist church of Geneva with Rev. John E. Stayton officiating. Mrs. Rodger Witte of Syracuse sang “How Great Thou Art” and “My Task,” accompanied by the organist, Mrs. Willard H. Foster of Geneva. Pallbearers were Keith Nunns, Cecil Fox, Bernard Anderson, Marvin Nichols, Lloyd Schelbitzki and Everett Votipka. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Fox, Cyril Bernasek, Richard Nunns, Roy Speece, Cecil Richards, Carl Schneider and Earl Hennessey. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
