Mr. Dutcher submitted to a serious operation for the removal of his appendix last Monday evening. Dr. Watson of Grand Island performed the operation. For a day or two his condition appeared to improve. But later in the week he took a turn for the worse. Complications had developed. Oscar Dutcher was born July 26, 1848 near Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence county, New York. When but a small child, he moved with his parents to Illinois, later to Iowa, thence to Pierce county, Nebraska, where he was married to Miss Anna Kubista August 21, 1887. To this union were born thirteen children, three of whom died in infancy and a son, Frank, who died in the service of his country during the world war. Besides his widow, there remain four sons and five daughters to mourn his loss, all of whom were present except Mrs. Page Jonese of Detroit, Mich. The family moved to Greeley nearly seventeen years ago and is well known here. The deceased was a member of the M. E. church of this city. Mr. Dutcher was a kindly old man and was loved and respected by all who knew him. It is told of him that when the body of his son, a victim [next line illegible] if he would like to have the coffin opened so he might identify the remains before they were brought into the house, he made this answer: "Bring the body in. If it is not that of our boy, it is some one else's son." The funeral will be held at the Methodist church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock.
