Read More	UNION COUNTY MAN KICKED BY HORSE DIES OF INJURIES Rites Are Held Here Tuesday Afternoon For Oscar Oake Oscar Oake, a widely known and esteemed resident of Union county, S.D., passed away at the Akron Hospital on Saturday evening October 11, 1947, as the result of injuries sustained when he was kicked in the abdomen by a horse at his farm, west of town, on the morning of Tuesday September 30. He attained the age of 63 years, 4 months and 6 days. Oscar Oake was born in Sioux Valley Township, Union county, S.D., on June 5, 1885. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Lars Oake. In infancy he was baptized at the Union Creek Lutheran church. On February 12, 1908, he was united in marriage with Mollie Appley. Together they made their new home on the farm where they have lived ever since, for nearly forty years. To this union was born one daughter, who is now Mrs. Eric Olund. They became members of the Immanuel Lutheran church, of Akron, in 1934, and have continued as active and faithful members of this church. Mr. Oake was elected to the Immanuel Church Board and served well as both a trustee and a deacon for several years. Among those mourning his departure are: His wife, Mollie; his daughter, Mrs. Eric Olund, of Elk Point, S.D.; his sister, Mrs. Peter Erickson, and his brother, Gust Oakes, both of Elk Point, as well as many other relatives, and a great number of friends, who extend sincere sympathy to the sorrowing family. His parents; three brothers, Richard, Clifton and Elmer, and two sisters, Hilma and Hannah, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held here in Immanuel Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon, at 2:00 o'clock, following a brief service at the home, with Pastor David J. Roy officiating. Music was furnished by a male quartet comprised of H.J. Behmer, Arden Johnson, Clifford Johnson and Harry Nelson, with Mrs. Henning Shoulberg at the piano. Pallbearers were; James Appley, Amos Eidem, Elmer Heeren, Eldean Oakes, Lester Parker and Bernette Quam. Interment was In Riverside cemetery.
