The mishap occurred at noon-time on the Plahn farm west of Dayton. Mr. Plahn managed to untangle himself after being caught between the tractor and plow and reached the house. Dr. Gates M. Brown rushed to the scene of the accident and the injured man was taken immediately to Lutheran hospital in Fort Dodge by T.W. Swanson's ambulance. Blood transfusions were given to him Tuesday in an effort to combat the seriousness caused by the great loss of blood suffered by the victim. Dr. Brown commented that "he is a very seriously injured man but I believe he many pull through it all right." "He is in a very precarious condition at the present time and we don't know just what the outcome will be." Dr. Gates M. Brown stated this morning in regard to the condition of Oscar Plahn. Dayton Review April 14, 1938 OSCAR PLAHN'S FUNERAL YESTERDAY Final rites were conducted for Oscar Plahn, Dayton farmer fatally injured a week ago in a tractor mishap, at the Plahn home west of town and the Methodist church yesterday afternoon. Plahn, who was mangled by a tractor and plow early last week, made only slight improvement over the weekend at Lutheran hospital in Fort Dodge where he succumbed early Monday morning. Suffering severe loss of blood, a crushed pelvis and serious internal injuries only slight hope was held for the injured man after the accident which shocked the community. Rev. Watson Herrold preached the final sermon and interment was in Dayton Cemetery with T.W. Swanson in charge. Dayton Review April 21, 1938 OBITUARY Oscar W. Plahn was born March 15, 1890 in Vedby, Skåne, Sweden. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Sweden. At the time of his death he was a member of the Methodist church at Dayton. He came to this country on April 10, 1910, making his home with his cousin at Harcourt. He was united in marriage to Jane Mae Anderson on January 21, 1915, at to this union three children were born. On April 5, he met with a tragic accident and passed away at the Lutheran Hospital on April 11, at the age of 48 years and 27 days. He is survived by a loving wife and three children, Esther Mae Long, Harold William and Gordon Elof and by two grandsons, Donald Floyd and Russell Lee Long. He is also survived by his aged parents, three sisters and one brother in Sweden, and one brother, Eric of Dayton. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
