Description	:	HICKSVILLE - Otha L. "Joe" Hook, 66, 07677 Lake Road, Hicksville, died at his residence at 3:22 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 1996. He had been in failing health for the last year. Born Sept. 7, 1929, in Milford Township, Defiance County, he was the son of Cethel (Ballinger) and Joseph Hook. In 1981 he retired from International Harvester of Fort Wayne, Ind., after 30 years of service. He was also a farmer. "Joe" Hook, 66, 07677 Lake Road, Hicksville, died at his residence at 3:22 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 1996. He had been in failing health for the last year. Born Sept. 7, 1929, in Milford Township, Defiance County, he was the son of Cethel (Ballinger) and Joseph Hook. In 1981 he retired from International Harvester of Fort Wayne, Ind., after 30 years of service. He was also a farmer. During the Korean Conflict he served with the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany for two years. He served many years in the Army Reserve. Mr. Hook was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church of Hicksville and the Hicksville Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans of Defiance. On March 31, 1951, he married Leila Wonderly at Hicksville, and she survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Roger (Kristina) Giddings, Mrs. Richard (Paula) Scranton, Mrs. Dave (Rebecca) Dietz and Mrs. Thomas (Cynthia) Johns, all of Hicksville; a son, Michael (and wife, Julieanne) Hook of Hicksville; 15 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Madeline Brenninger of Bryan. Preceding him in death were two sisters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Graves officiating. Burial will be in Six Corners Cemetery, Hicksville, where the Hicksville VFW and American Legioni will conduct graveside military rites. Friends may call at the Brown Funeral Home in Hicksville after 7 p.m. today and after 1 p.m. Saturday and at the church one hour prior to services Sunday. Preferred memorials are to Hospice-Caring Way of Defiance County or the church. Published in The Bryan Times, February 9, 1996.
