Cushwa, one of the most substanial citizens of Berkeley county, died at 11:30 o'clock today at his residence on the Tuscarora about five miles west of this city, of typhoid fever in the 58th year of his age. He is survived by his widow (who was Miss Mollie Myers of this county) and six children: Willis, Elsie, Nellie and Howard at home; Allen Cushwa and Mrs. William Rice, on the Tuscarora; also by four sisters: Mrs. John M. Rentch and Mrs. Laura Walker, this city; Mrs. J. N. Thatcher, on the Tuscarora, and Mrs. John Kilmer, near town. Mr. Cushwa was the son of John D. Cushwa and was born at the old homestead where he spent his entire life and where he died. He was a farmer by occupation and a progressive and successful one. He was an elder in the Tuscarora Presbyterian Church and a man of the highest character and integrity and was a worthy representative of one of Berkeley county's most prominent families.
