Description	:	Otto Friedrich Schwarz, the son of Charles and Amelia Koepp Schwarz, was born July 31, 1893, on the family farm one and one-half miles north of Home City. He was the eldest son of a family of eight. He died December 14, 1993, at the Mary Marshall Manor in Marysville, Kansas, at the age of 100. He remained an active... Read More	Otto Friedrich Schwarz, the son of Charles and Amelia Koepp Schwarz, was born July 31, 1893, on the family farm one and one-half miles north of Home City. He was the eldest son of a family of eight. He died December 14, 1993, at the Mary Marshall Manor in Marysville, Kansas, at the age of 100. As a child he took catechism in German at the Friedens Lutheran Church in Home City and was confirmed there. As an adult he was baptized in the First Christian Church of Marysville on March 4, 1934. He remained an active member of this Church as long as health permitted. Through the years he served such posts as Deacon, Elder, Trustee, and Sunday School Secretary. When Otto came to manhood he moved from the family home to the farm northeast of Marysville and began to farm for himself. On April 11, 1917, he was married to Netta Ellen Hafner at the bride's home northeast of Marysville. To this union were born three children, Kenneth V., Virginia J. and Victor O. Otto's farming career bridged two eras, beginning when horses were the main power source for farm work and ending when power machinery had completely replace the horse. In the 1920's and early 30's he was the engineer for the threshing company in the neighborhood. In two different time periods he owned a cornshellar and did commercial corn shelling in the neighborhood. In 1960 he retired from farming but lived on the farm until 1968 when he and Netta moved to Marysville. Netta died in 1976. In 1989 Otto moved into Mary Marshall Manor and made it his home the rest of his life. Otto was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Netta, a son-in-law Maurice bigger, three sisters: Rose Eckstein, Matilda Eckstein, and Martha Schwarz, and three brothers: Louie, Rudolph and Carl Schwarz. Survivors include his children: Kenneth Schwarz and wife Carol of Home, Kansas, Virginia Bigger of Lawrence, Kansas, and Victor Schwarz and his wife Deloris of Marysville, Kansas. There is one brother Walter Schwarz of Marysville. 13 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
