Description	:	Owen Francis Anderson, 82 years of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Oxford, Nebraska and Alma, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Owen was born September 17, 1934, at Riserville, Iowa in Monroe County, the youngest of seven children born to Gustav and Edith Mable (Coons) Anderson. Owen was born September 17, 1934, at Riserville, Iowa in Monroe County, the youngest of seven children born to Gustav and Edith Mable (Coons) Anderson. He received his primary education from Alma High School, graduating with the class of 1953. On August 6, 1956, Owen was inducted into the United States Army at Fort Lewis, Washington. He served two years and was honorably discharged on August 5, 1958, as a Sargent. Owen served in the United States Army Reserve until December 5, 1961. On May 30, 1954 he was united in marriage to Shirley G. “Pat” Patterson at the E.U.B. Church in Hastings, Nebraska. To this union four children were born: Beverly Sue, Michael Owen, who died at age eight, Penni Lynn and Wendi Jo. The family lived in Grand Island, Nebraska and for a short time and they relocated to Spokane, Washington, while Owen was in the service. They moved back to Nebraska, living in Lincoln and then settling back in Alma. Owen worked for Dr. Neil Stuhmer as an Optician. He and Shirley’s true passion was for their Ministry in Music to serve God. They traveled together for over 30 years and recorded together 10 times on 11 albums. Owen was a friend of the First Baptist Church in Oxford. Besides his parents, son, Michael Owen and wife, Pat; Owen was preceded in death by; his siblings: Frank, John, Max “Pete”, Gustav, Jr. “Jug”, Emily and a sister in infancy; and sister-in-law, Clara Mae Mietzner. Owen leaves to celebrate his life; his three daughters: Beverly Kindler and her husband, Marvin of Oxford, Penni Meier of Oxford and Wendi Santee and her husband, Bob of Due West, South Carolina; foster son, Allan Gustafson of Eustis, Nebraska; five grandchildren: Jeremiah Kindler, Charity Neel Michael Meier and Amber Meier all of Oxford and Parker Santee of Due West, South Carolina; three great-grandchildren: Abbigail and Isabella Park of Oxford and Aliza Meier of Oxford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services for Owen F. Anderson were held on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Jenkins officiating. Interment followed at the Alma Cemetery at Alma, Nebraska with Military Honors provided by the Fay Cady American Legion Post #118 of Alma and the United States Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team. The Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma was in charge of the arrangements.
