Description	:	SCOTIA - Owen Keith Cargill, 77, of rural Scotia died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the Valley County Health System Hospital in Ord. A celebration of his life will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia. Pastor Mark Middendorf will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at Scotia. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Cal Cargill; two brothers, Perry and Neville Cargill; and three sisters, Beth Stanger, Aletha Woznick and Faye Hamer. Mr. Cargill was born Dec. 8, 1934, the youngest of seven children, to Ezra and Cytha (Iburg) Cargill on the family farm in the Parnell Township of Greeley County, north of Scotia. When Keith was 11, his father passed away. He continued to live on the farm with his mother, receiving his education at Parnell country school and graduating from Scotia High School in 1952. On April 24, 1954, Keith was united in marriage to Phyllis Moravec at Cotesfield. The couple made their home on the Cargill family farm. Keith and Phyllis farmed and raised cattle their entire married life. While Keith enjoyed farming, he took special pride in raising cattle. After his retirement in 2005, Keith spent time gardening and playing cards. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Keith enjoyed playing ball, he first played softball with the Baptist Church Team in the pasture west of the home buildings. He also played softball with the Horace Outlaws and Scotia Softball Team and baseball with the Scotia Town Team. He followed Major League Baseball attending games in Kansas and Minnesota. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Ord; a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Rose Marie "Ree" Cargill of Grand Island; a daughter and son-in-law, Teri and David Edwards of Bloomfield; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Grantham of Columbus and a brother-in-law, Orville Hamer of Greeley. He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Cal Cargill; two brothers, Perry and Neville Cargill; and three sisters, Beth Stanger, Aletha Woznick and Faye Hamer.
