Main Ave. Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 10:30 am Monday at St. Therese Parish, with burial at St. Michael Cemetery. Patricia Donahoe was born in Sioux Falls, January 9, 1929 to Roy and Irene (Mundt) Donahoe. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Sioux Falls and technical school in Minneapolis. She married Oliver Fokken in Sioux Falls in 1948. He died in 2003. Patricia met and married Oliver while both were working at Borgen Chevrolet. Oliver retired from Duke Tufty Co. after 25 years and they purchased the country corner known as Pumpkin Center in 1973. Oliver opened his paint and body shop but in 1979 suffered the first of many strokes. They moved back to Sioux Falls, and Patricia retired from the City Library to become his 24-hour care giver. During her working years, Patricia served on the Minnehaha County Historical Society Board; She was Democratic Precinct Committeewoman in Sioux Falls and Wellington Township; She was appointed to the S.D. Board of Cosmetology by Gov. Kneip; and served on St. Michael Cemetery Board. She grew up in the North-end and considered all her Cathedral Classmates of 12 years as family. She had great affection for the Dominican Sisters and visited their Sinsinawa Wisconsin Motherhouse several times. She enjoyed the weekly gatherings with her sister Marge and brother Bud and his wife Mary Lou. Family and friends were very important. Her parting words to her children were: Remember – Dad and I loved you all. Thank you all for everything. See you upstairs! Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Mike, Sioux Falls, Denis (Mary Beth), Yankton, SD, Mary Griffith, Sioux Falls, Steve (Rhonda), Lexington, NE, Carol (Russ) Beard, Columbus, GA, and Pat (Neili), Humboldt, SD. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; her brother L.J. “Bud” (Mary Lou) Donahoe, Sioux Falls; and a special friend of 75 plus years, Shirley Hawks, Sioux Falls. Her parents Roy and Irene, husband Oliver, daughter in-law Monnie and sisters: Marie, Agnes, Marjorie and Shirlee preceded her in death.
