She was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 12, 1920, the youngest daughter of David and Ethel Simpson. The family moved to Nebraska in 1922. Read More	Patricia Simpson Gilman 1920 ~ 2010 Resident of Walnut Creek Patricia Simpson Gilman passed away suddenly at home at the age of 89 on February 4, 2010. She was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 12, 1920, the youngest daughter of David and Ethel Simpson. The family moved to Nebraska in 1922. She attended secondary schools in Nebraska and attended Arlington College in Arlington, Nebraska. After graduation she worked for the British Government Lend-Lease procurement system in Detroit until she entered the U.S. Navy in August 1943. She was trained as a physical therapist at Cornell Medical School in New York, and served in Philadelphia, Swarthmore and Oak Knoll Naval Hospitals until discharge in 1946. She married Ivan Gilman on February 19, 1944 while they were both in the military. Their four daughters Barbara, Patricia, Susan and Nancy were born while they were living in Ann Arbor, Michigan, then Richmond and Pleasant Hill, California. Pat was always active in school and community affairs. She worked for the Contra Costa County Health Services as physical therapist in the handicapped children schools from 1966 to 1970. She was an active member of the Daughters of the British Empire, Questers Antique Collectors, the Women's Club of Walnut Creek. Recently, Pat was active in the City of Hope, Walnut Creek Civic Arts League, the Alamo-Danville Garden Club, and she was a charter member of the Women in the Military Memorial in Washington,D.C. As the mother of four daughters, she was a tireless advocate of equal opportunity for women. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Ivan of Walnut Creek; daughters Barbara Bahler of Stockton, CA; Patricia and Nouhal Moukadem of Tripoli, Lebanon; Susan and Gary Norgan of Hemet, CA; and Nancy and Bill Prather of Ojai, CA; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and sisters Elsie Lockwood, Lillian Saunders and Doris Ring. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 2:00pm at Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel, 1139 Saranap Avenue, in Walnut Creek.
