Laughlin, 166 River Road, Westernport, former president of the Citizens National Bank, Westernport, and the First National Bank of Barton, died yesterday afternoon in Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, where he had been a patient since September 9. He was a native of Franklin Hill, Westernport. Mr. Laughlin was born 9 March 1879 and was a son of the late John and Ellen (Byrne) Laughlin. His wife, Mrs. Catherine (McGuigan) Laughlin preceded him in death. Mr. Laughlin was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. This past May, Mr. Laughlin resigned as president of the two banks and was elected chairman of the Board of Directors of the banks. He is a past president of Group I, Maryland Bankers Association, the last surviving charter member of Piedmont Council 685, Knights of Columbus, a member of Chief Justice Taney General Assembly, Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus, St. Peter's Church, Westernport ad the Holy Name Society. He also belongs to the Cumberland Country Club. The body is at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, where friends will be received today and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home tomorrow at 8 p.m. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Church and interment will be in the church cemetery."
