Description	:	"The Herald" (Piedmont, W.Va.), Thursday 1 March 1934: "Daniel Laughlin Sr., aged 76 years, died last night at 9:30 o'clock at his home on Pratt Street, Luke, succumbing to paralysis, with which he was stricken Monday morning. He was an employee of the W.Va. Pulp & Paper Company for many years. "The Herald" (Piedmont, W.Va.), Thursday 8 March 1934: "Funeral services for Daniel Laughlin Sr., aged 76, who died from paralysis last Wednescay, were held Saturday morning at St. Peter's Catholic Church, with Rev. J. E. Gedra officiating. Rev. A. Scarpati and Rev. Russell Phelan were in the sanctuary. Interment was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Mart Rowan, Joseph L. Mansfield, French Coontz, James Donahue, William Patterson, Heber Poland, Thomas Haywood and Michael O'Laughlin. Among those who attended were Richard Laughlin, Columbus, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Laughlin, Cleveland, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Laughlin, Amos Citra and George Citra, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Stella Sarsfield, John Laughlin, Miss Madaline Laughlin, Richard Laughlin, Mrs. Anna Walsh, Miss Mary O'Brien, Mrs. Bridget Mullen, Cumberland, Md.; Dennis Collins and Thomas Collins, Keyser. Though born in Ireland, Mr. Laughlin was only a small boy when in 1864 his parents came to America. After living a brief period in Pennsylvania, they took up their residence here. For thirty-two years, Mr. Laughlin was an employee of the W.Va. Pulp and Paper Co., and for a number of years served as president of the Devon Club. An active Democrat, he served as a magistrate by appointment of Governor Ritchie. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and of the Holy Name Society. His wife, the former Miss Mary Ann Carey died 7 December 1908. One daughter and six sons survive, John Laughlin of Pittsburgh; Andrew Laughlin, of Cleveland; Miss Anna, Thomas, Martin, Charles and Daniel Laughlin Jr., all at home. He also leaves one sister and five brothers, Richard Laughlin of Columbus; Miss Mamie, James F., John, Charles E., and P. A. Laughlin, all of Westernport."
