During this time two Connery sisters became acquainted with the Breen’s. Paul Breen married Margaret Connery in 1858 and Patrick Breen married Ellen Connery, a short time later. The Breen’s were born in Kilkeeny, Ireland, Paul about 1833 and Patrick in 1827. Paul and Margaret moved to Farley in 1861 settling on a farm southwest of town, Section 14. Ten children were born to them: Catherine born 1862; Michael on 1862, Ellen born 1866, Paul born 1868, John Henry born 1870, Mary Agnes born 1872, Joseph Vincent born 1874, Margaret Lucia born 1876; James Cain born 1878, Patrick born 1880. Mr. Paul Breen passed away at the age of 73 on March 26, 1906. Margaret, his wife, died May 26, 1920, age 79. Both are buried at the Catholic. Patrick Breen, born in 1827, came with his wife, Ellen to Farley. They farmed in Section 26 of Dodge Township. Patrick and Ellen had six children: Edward born 1865, Maurice born 1866, Michael born 1869, Joseph born 1871, Patrick Henry born 1873, and Ellen Elizabeth born 1875. Ellen Connery Breen is buried by her husband at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. She died April 14, 1894 at age 67. Martin J. Connery married Mary Jane Whittey about 1860. Mary J. was the daughter of J. and E. Powell Whittey. The Whittey family had emigrated from County Waterford, Ireland to Worcester, Massachusetts in the 1850’s. May Jane was born March of 1832. In 1864, Martin and Mary Jane, with their first child, moved to Farley. The couple had six children: Anna born 1872, John Henry 1865, Mary Catherine born 1867, Martin born 1869, Joseph born 1871, and Michael J. born 1874. Martin Connery worked for the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul RR for 37 years. He began work on May 1, 1865, when it was known as the Dubuque and Southwestern. He took his retirement from the railroad in Oct. of 1902 to be with his children in Spokane, Washington. Mary Jane died there in Nov. 1909 and Martin on March 14, 1914. Henry Connery and Anna Whittey were married on 1873. Anna was the daughter of J. and E. Powell Whittey, (A sister of Mary Jane Breen who was married to Henry’s brother, Marin Connery). Henry and Anna came to Farley in 1864, along with Martin and Mary j. Henry secured a farm south of Farley in Section 19 of Taylor Township where he lived until 1892 when he gave up farming and built a house near the Catholic Church. He remains there until his death on Dec. 5, 1905; burial is in St. Joseph Cemetery. He was 75. Anna died in 1924 and is buried by her husband.
