Barton, 89, of Luther Manor, formerly of 1435 Altura, passed away at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Luther Manor. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 30, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Rickardsville, Iowa, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque Marine Corps League. (Schirmer) Barton. He married Helen Ruth Parker on Feb. 3, 1942, in Dubuque. He served in the Army during World War II under General Patton. Paul worked in assembly repair at John Deere Dubuque Works for 36 years until his retirement. He was a member of Holy Ghost Parish and the United Automobile Workers. Surviving are his wife, Helen R. Barton, of Dubuque; a daughter, Paula Barton, of Niwot, Colo.; three brothers, Leo Barton, of Durango, Iowa, and Louis (Phyllis) Barton and James Barton, both of Dubuque; a sister, Betty (Ed) Stierman, of Tucson, Ariz.; a grandson, Shawn (Lori) Kies, of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two stepgranddaughters, Robyn (Todd) Bruxvoort, of Firestone, Colo., and Carrie Baker, of Longmont, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Barton; a sister, Phyllis Oberfoell and a sister in infancy.
