He was born again into the family of God in baptism on February 17, 1935, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was born again into the family of God in baptism on February 17, 1935, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska. Paul confirmed his faith in His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the rite of confirmation on April 25, 1948, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska. He attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School north of Arapahoe. He was a graduate of Arapahoe High School with the class of 1953. He married Bernice E. Helms on August 2, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska. To this union were born three sons: Brian Dean, Myron Alan and Bryce Emil. He farmed with his parents north of Arapahoe until 1960 when he started working at Arapahoe Co-op. He worked at Arapahoe Co-op until August 1978 when he went on disability due to a work related injury. Paul was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Gardner, Kansas, since 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Laura Wendland, brother, Gary Wend-land; niece, Melody Wendland. Survivors include his wife, Bernice, of Gardner, Kansas; sons, Brian and Laurie Wendland of Olathe, Kansas; Myron and Maria Wendland of Bertrand, Nebraska; Bryce and Amy Wend-land of Raymond, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Zachary, Amanda and Samuel Wendland of Olathe, Kansas; LaTisha Jones of Bertrand, Nebraska; Andrew, Joshua and Jacob Wendland of Raymond, Nebraska; sister, NaOma Arnold of Wyoming, Michigan; brother and sister-in-law: Rev. Leland and Loraine Wendland of Boring, Washington; brother-in-law: Marvin Helms of ElCajon, California; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Laretta and Floyd Chapin of Benkelman, Nebraska, nieces: Mary Chapin, Casey Helms, Beth Marzolf, Karen Herbold, Step-hanie Walker, Jennifer Wachlin, Cynthia Arnold, Tammy Mc-Donald and Trina Schroeder and nephews: Kevin and Luke Cha-pin, Scott Helms, Kevin, Jerome and Joel Wendland, Timothy Arnold, and the exchange students that lived with them: Shinki Kato of Japan; Soren Ericsson of Sweden; Roy Svensson of Sweden; Jun Baniqued of the Philippines; Fernando Gomez of South America and his wife, Angela, now of Olathe, Kansas, and Sven Glante of Germany. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Arapahoe Cemetery in Arapahoe, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to: King of Kings Lu-theran Church, P.O. Box 364, Gardner, KS 66030.
