Description	:	Paul E. Veach, 83, Hiawatha, died Friday afternoon, November 29, 1974, at the Brown County Infirmary, where he had been a patient for the past four years. Born June 18, 1891, near Baker, Kansas, the son of John and Cora Peckinpaugh Veach, he farmed in the Hiawatha vicinity for 39 years, retiring and moving to town in 1958. Veach, 83, Hiawatha, died Friday afternoon, November 29, 1974, at the Brown County Infirmary, where he had been a patient for the past four years. Born June 18, 1891, near Baker, Kansas, the son of John and Cora Peckinpaugh Veach, he farmed in the Hiawatha vicinity for 39 years, retiring and moving to town in 1958. Mr. Veach was married to Mabel E. Irving on May 14, 1919, at her family home near Baker. She died in January of 1968. Mr. Veach was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Homer White Post #66, Hiawatha American Legion, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hiawatha. He is survived by one son, Paul I. Veach of rural Severance; two daughters, Mrs. Howard (Rosalys) Bauer of Flushing, Michigan, and Mrs. Charles (Vivian) Rotz of Independence, Missouri; one brother, Lester Veach, and one sister, Mrs. John (Grace) Garrett, both of Fresno, California; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Veach were held from the Meek Mortuary Chapel at 2:00 Monday afternoon, December 2, with the Rev. Paul Mitchell officiating. Leroy Neff sang "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. R. S. Cassleman, organist. Pallbearers were Bill Ruch, George Hook, Ralph Rotz, Donald Sunderland, Robert Reynolds, and Merle Gilliland. Interment was at the Hiawatha Cemetery, where flag folding services were conducted as a courtesy of Homer White Post #66, Hiawatha American Legion.
