Honorary casketbearers were Coral Greenfield, Orville Pevestorf, Lee Miller, Harold Hague, Bud Lyons, Leonard Siedhoff, Harold Scott, Ira Stevens, Ken Robinson, Jim Ramaekers, Marvin Paulsen, Merlin Sievers and Ken Knudsen. Interment was in Willow Township Cemetery north of Bayard. The Rosary was recited at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 16, at Ohde Funeral Home in Bayard. PAUL F. BRUTSCHE Paul, son of Lee and Mary Moylan Brutsche, was born December 3, 1903, near Coon Rapids, Iowa, on the farm his grandfather, Albert Brutsche, purchased in 1866. He attended country school and was graduated from Loras Academy in Dubuque. He then attended Creighton University in Omaha. On November 15, 1939 he was united in marriage with Rita Howe at St. Patrick's Church in Bayard by Rev. Monsignor Kelliher. Paul and Rita settled on the family farm where he was born. He was a lifelong farmer and in later years was in partnership with his son, Dan. Paul was active in civic and political affairs. He was President of the Highway 141 Development Association and a Charter Member of the Bayard Lion's Club. He served on township and county ASC committees, held numerous township offices and was an active member of the Democratic party. Paul was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Bayard. Paul was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Rita of rural Coon Rapids; one son, Dan and wife, Nancy, rural Coon Rapids; five grandchildren: Mary, Mike, Cathy, Joe and Pat Brutsche; a sister, Pearl Brannan of Coon Rapids; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
