Paul Joseph Darcy Paul Joseph Darcy was born Feb 7,1925 in Creighton, Knox County, Nebraska, to John Patrick Darcy and Anna Schneider Ellingson Darcy, it was a difficult delivery and as a result Paul was severely disabled. He lived on the family farm with his parents in Creighton, Knox County, Nebraska until early 1958. His father died Dec 7, 1955 and his mother died August 1, 1957. As a result of his parents death, Margaret Ellingson Hart, Paul's 1/2 sister, was appointed his guardian, in late 1957. After Margaret's death Mary Ann Hart McGrath (Margaret's daughter, Pauls 1/2 niece, was appointed his guardian in about 1984. Baptized the same day he was born at home: Feb. 7, 1925 (An emergency, difficult delivery) He was profoundly disabled as a result. He was baptized again by Father Windolph at St. Ludgers church on March 22, 1925 He was confirmed into the Catholic Church at Beatrice State Home in Beatrice, NE. on June 15, 1961. He was buried from St. Patrick's Parish in Gretna, Nebraska, October 22, 2004. Paul never married. In 2004 he was living in Gretna Community Living Center, in Gretna, Ne. He is listed as disabled, mentally retarded, deaf and mute. He died as a result of a pelvic fracture and a cardiopulmonary system collapse. He died an Omaha Hospital Oct 20, 2004 at 4:25 AM. He was buried in Calvary cemetery on October 22, 2004. Paul was placed in the Beatrice State home in early 1958. In 1961 Margaret requested that he be Confirmed in the Catholic church. He was confirmed June 1961, at the age of 36 in the Lincoln (Nebraska) Diocese; The Most Reverend James Vincent Casey - Bishop; at the State Home. In an attempt to reduced the population at Beatrice State Home, he was transferred to a nursing home in south Lincoln, Nebraska in about 1968. He was also was assigned to a sheltered workshop in North Lincoln. In about 1984 he was transferred to the Gretna Community Living Center in Gretna, Nebraska. Paul died Oct 20,2004 at the age of 79, in Omaha, Nebraska, following a fall in which his pelvis was broken, this resulted in a cardiopulmonary collapse.
