Greg Myrmoe will officiate. Mr. Holt passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2006, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Burial with Military Honors presented by the Charles-Curry American Legion Post #49 of Clear Lake, SD, will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake, SD. Pallbearers will be: Bob Lane, Gary Lane, Carey Holt, Randy Holt, Harlan Olerud and Doug Feten. Paul was born on March 19, 1922, in Deuel County, South Dakota to Claude and Eva Irene (Rupp) Holt. Following his graduation in 1939 from the Clear Lake High School, he attended Watertown Business College in Watertown, SD. After moving to California, Paul was employed from 1941 to 1942 at the Douglas Aircraft Co. Paul then enlisted with the United States Coast Guard and received an honorable discharge after serving from 1942 to 1946, holding the rating of Seaman 1/C. Paul spent the next two years farming. He then worked for a year as an outside automobile and machinery salesman in Clear Lake, SD. After returning to California, in 1952 Paul began a career in banking. During this time he also attended Los Angeles State College graduating in 1953 with a degree in Economics. From 1964 to 1967 he found employment as an insurance agent. In 1967 Paul began working in the postal service, retiring in 1978. Following his retirement he remained in California. On May 8, 2006 Paul entered the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center in Clear Lake, SD. He remained there until November 6, 2006 when he entered the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD where he passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2006, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 4 days. Paul enjoyed traveling, going to Reno, camping and playing Penny Ante Poker. Paul is survived by his three brothers: C. Lyle (Dorothy) Holt of Clear Lake, SD, Dale G. (Adina) Holt of Santa Maria, CA and Alyn R. (Connie) Holt of Cherry Hill, NJ, special friend Patricia Chatfield of Orange Vale, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Gene Lane and her husband Dave; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Holt; niece Stacey Holt and special companion, Grace Hevron.
