Description	:	Paul was born on the family farm in Saline County, south of Tobias, Nebraska; he was the oldest of 6 children. His father had immigrated from Germany 8 years earlier. He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church, having been baptized there as an infant in 1898 and confirmed there in 1912. Zion was the site of his marriage to Bertha Holtmeier on Feb. 24, 1921. They had two daughters, Lorna who married Martin Bartels, and Vera who married Waddell Weber; and one son Dale who married Clarice Bartels. ------------------------------------ The following obituary is from the files of Edith Nutsch Meyer as provided by her daughter, Janey: Paul Meyer, son of Henry and Mary Jordening Meyer, was born Dec. 16, 1897, on a farm near Tobias, Neb. He died Aug. 22, 1983, at Jefferson County Memorial Nursing Home in Fairbury, Neb., at the age of 85 years, 8 months, and six days. He grew up on the farm near Tobias and Feb. 24, 1921, he married Bertha Holtmeier at Zion Lutheran Church near Tobias. The couple made their home on a farm west of Daykin until 1963 when they moved to a farm north of there. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rudolph and Herman Meyer. He is survived by his wife, Bertha, of Tobias; son, Dale Meyer of Daykin; two daughters, Lorna, Mrs. Martin Bartels of Tobias and Vera, Mrs. Waddell Weber of Beatrice; two sisters, Gertrude, mrs. Leonard Schafer of Daykin and Hulda Niederklein of Fairbury; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Services were Aug. 25, at Zion Lutheran Church near Tobias with Pastor David J. Ahlman officiating. Wilma Jordening was organist. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbears were Alan Krupicka, Charles Filipi, Larry Weber, Duane Weber, Jay Meyer and David Grimes.
