Fisher, a traveling salesman of Hastings. Read More	Paul Michaud, seventy-year-old resident of Nora, was killed Tuesday evening a little before six o'clock, when struck by an automobile driven by A.G. Fisher, a traveling salesman of Hastings. Mr. Michaud who lives about a quarter of a mile east of town, was bringing his cows across from the pasture on the north side of Highway No. 3, when the passing car, coming from the east, struck him. Mr. Fisher was injured slightly when his car overturned as it swerved into a bank in the effort to avoid striking Mr. Michaud. Another car driven by M.W. Steincamp of Omaha, also coming from the east soon reached the scene, and Michaud and Fisher were hurried to the Superior hospital. The farmer was found to have had his neck broken in the crash, and the doctor gave it as his opinion that death was instant. Sheriff Jim Walden and Deputy Dewey Whartman were called to the scene of the accident, and then went on to Superior. Mr. Fisher was brought to Nelson, and after being questioned by County Attorney H.A. Brubaker, he was released. The body was brought to Nelson by Albert Klawitter who will be in charge of the funeral Friday afternoon, which will be held in the Nora M.E. church (sic). Burial will be in Superior cemetery. Deceased is survived by a daughter and two sons, the wife preceded him in death some years ago. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, December 12, 1935 Paul, son of Jean and Catherine (Frei) Michaud, was born in Neuchatel, Switzerland, January 11, 1866, and died in Nora, Nebraska, December 10, 1935, at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 29 days. His death was instantaneous, as the result of an automobile accident. Mr. Michaud was educated in his native city, and for several years worked as scribe in the offices of business men. At the age of 18 he came to America, along with three other young men, and those who knew Mr. Michaud also know that he made not only a living, but a life worth while in every community in which he lived. His first home was in Knox county (sic), Nebraska, and the, after several years, he went to Nemaha county (sic), where he met, and on the 5th of March, 1892, was married to Miss Lena Hagelbach. They lived in Nemaha county (sic) for a few years, then went again to Knox county (sic), where Mr. Michaud took a homestead near the town of Verdel. Later, they moved to Superior, Nebraska, and after the death of his companion January 27, 1920, Mr. Michaud moved to Nora, where he has been a familiar figure and honored citizen ever since. To the Michauds were born three children: Henry and Mrs. Minnie Shipman of Nora, and Paul of Loomis, Nebraska. These, together with seven grand children, three sisters and one brother, remain to miss him and mourn his departure. His brother, Adolph, still lives in Switzerland while the three sisters are in Germany. One coincident in the life of Mr. Michaud we did not mention was that he and his wife were born in the same town in Switzerland, but had never met until they were in America. Mr. Michaud was held in high esteem by all who knew him. A man of more than ordinary intellectual acumen, able to discuss the questions of the day in a way that showed that he was a thinker of high quality, and whether one agreed with his position or not one was obliged to respect his judgment. A residence of 51 years in Nebraska entitled him to a place among the builders of this great state. His familiar form and pleasant smile will be greatly missed by all the citizens of this community, and the sympathy of every one toward the bereaved ones is genuine and sincere. Funeral services were held from the Methodist church (sic) in Nora on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. G.M. Bing. Music was furnished by a male quartette composed of Messrs. Harold Hamel, W.A. Hanthorn, Fred Stanley and George Thayer, with Ralph Gerbeling at the piano. Pallbearers were: Messrs. Frank Thayer, Archie Jones, Ed Lanham, Clyde Williams, Robert Lines and W.S. McNulty. Burial was in the cemetery at Superior. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, December 19, 1935; pg. 10
