Pall bearers were William Thompson, Ward Cooper, Miles Roberts, Millard Enarson, Wallace Anderson, and Ralph Gourley. Flower bearers were Mrs. William Thompson and Mrs. Ward Cooper. Paul Portlock Taylor, son of William Harvey and Lusette Portlock Taylor, was born July 4, 1891, on a farm southwest of Villisca and passed away at his home north of Villisca, November 27, 1959. He had lived his entire life in Montgomery County. On February 19, 1913, he was united in marriage to Eula Neal. They made their home on a farm north of Villisca. Three children were born to them, Neal, at home , Dorothy Ann Horton of New Market, and Margaret Carlson of Gravity. He is survived by his wife, his three children, 4 grandchildren, Billy and Randy Horton of New Market, Marvin Paul Carlson of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Mrs. Karene Brenton of Villisca and by one great grandson, Bennett Lee Brenton. He is also survived by one brother, George H. Taylor of Lincoln, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. A farmer all his life, Paul loved the soil. He had been interested in soil conservation for many years and was a leader in the soil conservation movement. He was proud that the terraces in his fields were among the first in the state of Iowa. In 1948 he received a plaque from the Omaha World Herald for outstanding service to the Montgomery County Soil Conservation District. In 1956 he received an award from the State Soil Conservation Committee of Iowa for devoted services as Soil Conservation District Commissioner for Montgomery County. He was a member of the Methodist Church since 1910. He was a devoted husband and father and delighted to have his family about him. He has been a resident of they community for many years where he has many neighbors and friends who will miss him very much. He is survived by his wife, one son, Neal at home and two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Carlson of Guss and Mrs. Dorothy Ann Horton of New Market, four grandchildren and one great grandchild and other relatives.
