Description	:	Known to many Clutierites as "P. J.", Paul always loved the land and began farming on 80 acres. Through the years, they expanded their farming operation, purchasing more land, including the Stanley Yukl farm in 1954 which son, David, now owns; the Frank Novotny Estate in 1982, including the school house Carroll No. 6 which Paul attended through the eighth grade, and which son, Paul E, now owns; and in 1978 the Eman Dvorak farm to which he and Albia moved. Through the years, they expanded their farming operation, purchasing more land, including the Stanley Yukl farm in 1954 which son, David, now owns; the Frank Novotny Estate in 1982, including the school house Carroll No. 6 which Paul attended through the eighth grade, and which son, Paul E, now owns; and in 1978 the Eman Dvorak farm to which he and Albia moved. Their son Clair and family moved to the home place which Clair now owns. In addition to his love of the land and farming, Paul enjoyed raising livestock, particularly purebred Black Angus cattle, which he later crossbred with white Charlois. He was devoted to his family and church, and in 1949 he became the caretaker of the St. Vaclav Cemetery, mowing the grounds and overseeing the digging of the graves. Today, Paul E and his family continue to mow the cemetery. Paul J. was a stockholder in the Belle Plaine Sale Barn and the Farmers Lumber Company in Clutier, a salesman for FAG seed corn, and an avid card player. Albia was the typical farm wife, caring for the family, gardening and preserving the fruits of the harvest, caring for the farm animals, sewing the clothes, enjoying raising many flowers, and passing on many Czech traditions to her children.
