Baxter, mother of Geo. Baxter and Mrs. Sue Cupples, were grieved to learn last Monday morning of her rather sudden death. It was not generally known outside of the immediate neighborhood that she had been sick. She was taken sick only a short time before her death, and her friends and relatives could hardly realize that she was gone when the news was given them. Mrs. Pauline C. Baxter was born in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1839, and at the time of her death was 70 years and 6 months of age. She was married in 1869 to Taylor A. Baxter, and moved to Larned inn 1902. She is survived by three children, all of whom were present at the time of the funeral. The funeral service was held at the family home in the northeast part of town Thursday morning, the sermon being preached by Rev. Fleming of the Presbyterian church, after which the remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery.
