Description	:	Mrs Vern Ferree, daughter of Benjamin and Ethel (Mealio) Smith, died at 27 years old on Monday, July 5 1937, at her home south of Matheson CO,in the Pleasant Plains Community. Read More	Mrs Vern Ferree, daughter of Benjamin and Ethel (Mealio) Smith, died at 27 years old on Monday, July 5 1937, at her home south of Matheson CO,in the Pleasant Plains Community. She died due to complications from child birth. She was born Pauline Lucile Smith in Alden IA on February 1 1910. Her family moved to Colorado and homesteaded a property at Elbert County Roads 185 and 66. On April 22 1928, she married Mr Vern Ferree at the home of her parents in Limon CO. The couple then moved to a farm owned by the groom's family that was the south half of the original Smith Homestead. Shortly, thereafter, they moved to the Ferree Homestead at Elbert County Roads 161 and 66. All six of their children were born on the Ferree Homestead. The oldest being nine years old and the youngest being five days. They are Herbert, Philip, Beulah, Dolores, Norma, and the baby, Paul. Besides her husband and six children, Mrs Ferree left her parents, three sisters, Mrs William Benner, Mrs Bert Pearson and Mrs Ira Tullis; and two brothers, Richard and John Smith. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 10 1937 at 10:30am at the Pleasant Plains Church under the direction of Reverend J V Pettit. Deits Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Pauline was laid to rest at the Pleasant Plains Cemetery at Pleasant Plains CO.
