She spent her early life on the farm of her maternal Grandfather and Grandmother Orwig in north central Iowa. She graduated from Laurens High School in 1947 where she played basketball and was very involved with anything to do with music. Peggy was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice and was known around Iowa for her Saturday morning radio show on which she sang. She went to cosmetology school in Sioux City, Iowa, and continued to sing for events in and around Sioux City. While attending a dance in Sioux City, she met Carl Mollet of Jefferson, SD. This began a 50 year love affair. Carl and Peggy were married on May 2, 1949 and moved to Beresford, SD to begin their life together on the family farm. Four years and four children later, they bought the farm which was to become their lifeblood in Burbank, SD. They raised 7 children: Randall Mollet, Douglas Mollet, Kendall Mollet, Marcia Mollet Hart, Cynthia Mollet, Bradley Mollet, and Carleen Mollet Frey. Peggy was not only Carl's devoted wife, but his hired hand, best friend, and life mate. She continued her passion for music and it was not uncommon for music to be heard coming from her kitchen, garden, laundry room or just as she went about her day. Peggy's love of music was a common theme in her life and led to all of her children sharing in that love. She and Carl were avid dancers and it was common to see them dancing at the Eagles on a Saturday night. Peggy was an uncommonly good cook and gave the love of cooking to her children. Peggy was a tireless woman of strong faith and volunteered at their church in the altar society, funeral committee and anywhere else there was a need. Carl and Peggy shared a commitment to the betterment of their community and Peggy was a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution and the Election Board. They loved to fish, and trips to Lake Andes were one of their favorite activities. They shared the full and tumultuous life of a farmer for 49 years before Carl preceded her in death on Dec 14, 1994. Following Carl's death, Peggy became very involved in community service, especially ESA. She and Carl had moved from the family farm in May of 1994 to Vermillion, South Dakota. Peggy lived out the remainder of her life in Vermillion until she recently moved to the Dakota Dunes in Sioux City where she passed. She was preceded in death by her mother, a sister, Janet Mortale, a brother, Dallas Hucka, and her loving husband, Carl Mollet. Peggy is survived by her seven children, 27 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. A prayer service will be held at St Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion on Friday October 4 at 7:00 pm with visitation at 6:00 pm. Funeral mass will be held at St Agnes Catholic Church on Saturday October 5 at 11:00 am with burial to follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Vermillion.
