His sons, Hugo, from Ulen, Minnesota and Hjalmar and wife, of Oldham, S.D., came home to attend the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Albin and Mr. and Mrs. A. Anderson, from near Spink; Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Johnson of Hawarden and Mr. and Mrs. M. Michaelson, of Kiron, were among those that attended Mr. Wiberg's funeral last Sunday. OBITUARY The remains of P.G. Wiberg were laid to rest in the Union Creek cemetery, Sunday afternoon, June 30 at 4 p.m. Deceased was born in Norrkoping, Sweden, March 21, 1843, and came to United States in 1864. In May, 1868 he filed on a homestead in Big Springs Township, Union county, S.D. and commenced to till and improve the farm which has ever since been his home. He was the first settler and owned the first frame house in Big Springs Township. He was married in 1876 to Sophia Maria Ranberg, who passed to the great beyond March 7, 1892. This union was blessed with 8 children, seven sons and one daughter, three of whom died in infancy. Surviving their father are the sons, Victor, Hugo, Adolph, August and Hjalmar, all of whom were present at the funeral with the exception of August, whose home is in North Dakota. Deceased also left a sister and niece in Sweden besides a large circle of friends and acquaintances to mourn his loss. Mr. Wiberg had been in ill health for the past two years, suffering with liver and heart trouble, and consequently when the angel of death came at the noon hour, May 27, 1913, it was not unexpected by him or the relatives. Impressive funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ford, of Dalesburg, assisted by Student Hedstrom, of Rock Island, Illinois, and attended by a large congregation of people from far and near. Mr Wiberg was of upright character, honest and industrious and through hard work and judicious management in his younger days had arrived at an independent financial situation and was up until recently, when he sold his farms to the sons, the owner of 480 acres of rich soil. He was always an active churchman and was charter member of the Union Creek congregation since its organization in January, 1874. The aged, the sick and the poor had in Mr. Wiberg a true friend, ready and willing to help wherever necessary, and many acts of kindness and charity were rendered by him on the quiet, always displaying a spirit of true Israelite.
